Prep and Aftercare of your Sunless Tan

Preparation

*Exfoliate skin at least 8 hours before your sunless session to smooth skin for even tanning results. Pay extra attention to dry areas such as; knees, elbows, feet, and hands.

* Shave at least 6 hours before your session. We always suggest shaving with soap and water only, shaving creams and gels often contain lanolin (an oil) which can act as a barrier between the tanning solution and the skin. Any waxing should be done 1-2 days prior to your sunless tanning.

* If skin is extremely dry you may apply a light water based lotion lightly to skin at least 2 hours prior to your sunless tan. Do not apply oils at any time prior to or after your sunless tan.

* Remove lotion, make-up and deodorant prior to your sunless tanning application.

* You'll want to wear dark, loose fitting clothing to your appointment. Do not wear wool, nylon, or silk during or after your sunless application and for at least 8 hours as DHA may react with these fabrics and cause staining.

* In general you will want to come to your appointment with clean skin that has no

barriers (no lotion, makeup, deodorant, etc)

Aftercare

*Wait at least 8 - 12 hours after application of our “traditional solution" before you

warm water rinse or 1- 3 hours with our "rapid solution". This will allow time for the

self-tanning reaction to occur on the skin.

* Do not expose your spray tan to any water or moisture prior to your warm water rinse.

* We recommend doing a gentle wash of your hands approximately an hour after you sunless application and do a gentle wipe of your feet with a warm wet washcloth approximately halfway through your tans development period.

*Do not exercise until after your warm water rinse.

* You will see brown color coming off of your body during your initial rinse. What

you see is the the cosmetic bronzer and what is left behind is your beautiful sunless tan.

* You may shower (warm water and body wash, NO bar soap) the day following your spray tan application.

* You may lightly apply moisturizer and resume use of deodorant after your first rinse.

*Moisturize daily, especially after showering, to maintain your sunless tan. For best

results use a water based moisturizer. Don’t use oil based moisturizers.

*Shorten your duration, lower your shower temperature and always pat dry after your shower.

* Do not exfoliate skin until you are ready to fully remove your sunless tanning.

* If sunbathing, remember to wear a sunscreen. Sunless products do not contain

sunscreen. Although you look like you have a tan, you will still need a sunscreen

to prevent your skin from burning.

Is the tan applied in a booth or by hand?

Our tans are applied with a hand held spray gun. Your spray tan professional has been trained and certified by Norvell University. Norvell University is the industry's #1 spray tanning training program.

How long does a spray tan last ?

Industry standards state that a spray tan typically last 4-10 days. Most clients report getting approximately 7 days of wear from a Glow tan. Proper preparation and aftercare, as well as a clients natural exfoliation rate all play integral parts in the life of a spray tan.

when is the best time to spray for a special event?

We suggest spraying two days ahead of an event for optimal results. (I.E. spray Thursday for a Saturday event)

What do I wear during my session?

A client's comfort is of utmost importance. Everyone is required to wear a bottom of some sort, but tops are optional. Clients wear a variety garments while spray tanning, underwear, old swim suit, shorts and a tank, board shorts. Pasties and disposable bras are available.
